Ok, so Marvel just gave us all an early Christmas present when they dropped the "Avengers: Infinity War" trailer yesterday. Fans lost their minds, reaction videos appeared within seconds, and the hype is real. It's also Christmas party season, which usually means office parties and someone embarrassing themselves with too much booze. You, dear reader, are obviously too sensible to do that, but I digress.
With this in mind, how about we combine the two with these Avengers inspired Cocktail recipes that are super easy to make and super delicious?
1. The Iron Man
Playboy, billionaire, philanthropist, Avenger, and now a drink. While a good whiskey on the rocks is Mr. Stark's drink of choice, and it's a fine choice, this recipe, found on ranker.com, is just as good. The ombre effect is caused by the varying densities of alcohol, which is how those fancy cocktail artists layer their drinks. Science!
Ingredients
2oz Grenadine
2oz Drambuie
4oz Orange Juice
2oz Scotch
Assemble
Layer the drink in a long flute glass for the best effect, starting with the grenadine, then the Drambuie, orange juice, and finally the Scotch.
Let the alcohol settle into a red and gold ombre style, and serve with a slice of orange for garnish. Best served cold and fresh.
2. The Incredible Hulk
Ok, you know how The Incredible Hulk likes to smash things? Well, this drink might well get you smashed. Also found on ranker.com, this is probably best enjoyed as a long drink, or as a one-off. Don't say you weren't warned.
Ingredients
2oz Midori
2oz Absinthe
6oz Mountain Dew
Assemble
Fill a long glass with crushed ice. Pour in the Midori and absinthe and top off with Mountain Dew. Garnish with a slice of kiwi and enjoy. Just don't Hulk out on anyone. I'm not taking responsibility for that.
3. Captain America
You didn't think I'd leave Steve Rogers off the list, did you?
Red, blue, and refreshing, this drink from TipsyBartender on Tumblr is the perfect Captain America cocktail. Trust me, the shot recipe you might find floating about on the internet isn't worthy of him.
Ingredients
1oz Raspberry Vodka
0.5oz Grenadine
0.5oz Blue Curacao
Sprite to top
Assemble
Fill a highball glass with ice. Add the grenadine, vodka, and blue curacao and top off with Sprite. Singing "Star Spangled Man" is optional, although it is highly recommended.
4. The Black Widow
I can't promise that you'll become a Russian femme fatale if you drink this, I can't promise that at all. What I can promise is a great tasting drink with this twist on a Black Russian from thedrunkenmoogle.com.
Ingredients
1oz Vodka
0.75oz Kahlua
1oz Grenadine
Cola to top
Assemble
Half fill a highball glass with ice.
Pour over the vodka, Kahlua, and grenadine and top off with cola. It's that straightforward.
5. The Mighty Thor
Asgardian mead is famously potent, as the God of Thunder himself displayed in "Avengers: Age of Ultron." While Asgardian mead isn't suitable for us mere mortals to drink, this cocktail from drinkstuff.com is worthy of your party.
Ingredients
2oz Whiskey
Sparkling Apple Cider
3 tsp Lemon Juice
1 tsp Honey
Red food coloring (optional)
Assemble
Combine the whiskey, lemon juice, and honey in a cocktail mixer with ice and shake until cold. Pour into a goblet glass and top up with the cider. If you want to go all out on the Avengers theme, add a few drops of red food coloring and gently stir.
6. Hawkeye
Aah Clint. Often left to the sidelines and underestimated by Marvel and the villains alike, he certainly can pack a punch. While this is more of a bomb than a cocktail from ranker.com, it's no less potent.
Ingredients
3oz Strongbow
3oz Purple WKD
2oz Aftershock
Assemble
Pour a shot of Aftershock into a shot glass and place this inside a tumbler. Fill around the shot glass with Strongbow and WKD. Knock back in one gulp.
Bonus: The God of Mischief
I know Loki isn't an Avenger, but this drink, also found on ranker.com, is too good to miss off the list. You can trust me way more than you can trust Loki.
Ingredients
1oz Blavod Vodka
1oz Blue Curacao
1oz Apple Sours
2oz Lime Juice
2oz Honey Mead
1oz Goldschlagger
Assemble
Pour crushed ice into a martini glass.
Layer each ingredient in the glass, starting with the Blavod vodka and going through the ingredients to finish off with the Goldschlagger. Garnish with two curls of lemon rind if you so desire.
Remember to drink responsibly guys. And if you need another reminder of the "Infinity War" trailer, I am only too happy to oblige.
