Unlike baseball, where major league players are traded for prospects, in football, buyers acquire players for draft picks. Sellers acquire draft picks as that's the only way to build towards the future. Here are players from the NFC that could be traded by the November 3 trade deadline.
Zach Ertz- TE
Ertz is expected to opt-out of his contract at seasons end and isn't expected to re-sign with the Eagles. While he's injured and is expected to miss up to four weeks, the Eagles may want to get something for him instead of having him walk for nothing. He's caught 24 of 45 passes for 178 yards and a touchdown.
Logan Ryan- CB/S
Ryan primarily played cornerback in his career but shifted to safety upon his signing with the Giants. He has 39 tackles (30 solos) with a sack, a forced fumble and four passes defended.
Kyler Fackrell- LB
Fackrell has recorded 20 tackles (15 solos) with three sacks, a forced fumble, an interception as well as a touchdown.
Dalvin Tomlinson- DT
The nose tackle has recorded 27 tackles (13 solos) with a sack.
Markus Golden- LB
Golden is off to a sluggish start but a contender may be interested in him due to his experience. He wouldn't cost much to acquire.
Devonta Freeman- RB
In four games, Freeman has rushed for 164 yards with a touchdown. He formerly used to be one of the better running backs in the league.
Ryan Kerrigan- EDGE
Kerrigan hasn't gotten much playing time in a loaded front seven in Washington but has gotten three sacks.
Brandon Scherff- RG
Scherff, one of the better guards across the league, has yet to have a penalty called against him this season and has allowed only one sack. He has three Pro Bowl appearances to his name.
Keeanu Neal- S
This season, Neal has 35 tackles and is averaging seven tackles a game.
Todd Gurley- RB
Gurley has had a bounceback campaign since being released by the Rams in the offseason. He has 422 rush yards with five touchdowns and 25 first downs. The Falcons will aim for a high pick if they were to trade him.
