Five legends confirmed so far for ‘MLB The Show 20’

Thus far, there have been ten legends confirmed to be in ‘MLB The Show 20’. They were either shown on the trailer for the new game, or they were later confirmed to be a part of the game.

According to PlayStation’s website, the game is set for a March 17 release date (March 13 for those that preorder).

John Franco, Mets

Franco pitched 21 years in the big leagues, and his 424 career saves place him fifth all-time. He led the NL in saves three times and was named to four All-Star teams.

Tom Glavine, Braves

Inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2014, Glavine won the NL Cy Young with Atlanta in 1991 and 1998. Over 22 seasons, he won 305 games (21st all-time), made 10 All-Star teams, and was the 1995 World Series MVP.

Greg Maddux, Braves

In his historic 23-year career, Maddux won 355 games (eighth all-time), struck out 3,371 hitters (10th all-time), and was a four-time NL Cy Young winner. He also won an astounding 18 Gold Gloves and was known for his pinpoint accuracy on the mound (just 1.8 walks per nine innings in his career).

John Olerud, Blue Jays

The 1993 AL batting champ, Olerud won back-to-back titles with the Blue Jays in 1992-93. He finished his career with 500 doubles, 2,239 hits, more walks than strikeouts, two All-Star appearances, and three Gold Gloves as a first baseman.

David Ortiz, Red Sox

With his 20-year career coming to an end in 2016, Ortiz will soon be eligible for the Hall of Fame. The three-time World Series winner with the Red Sox made 10 All-Star teams and ranks 12th all-time in doubles (632), 17th in home runs (541), and 22nd in RBIs (1,768).

Mariano Rivera, Yankees

Known by most as the best closer of all-time, Rivera became the first player to ever be inducted unanimously into the Hall of Fame in 2019. His 19-year career (all with the Yankees) consisted of five World Series wins, 13 All-Star nods, and a MLB-record 652 saves.

Brian Roberts, Orioles

Roberts spent the first 13 of his 14 MLB seasons with the Orioles manning second base. He twice led the AL In doubles, once in stolen bases, scored over 100 runs four times, and was an All-Star twice.

Gary Sheffield, Marlins

A nine-time All-Star and five-time Silver Slugger, Sheffield ranks 26th all-time in homers (509), 30th in RBIs (1,676), and 39th in runs (1,636). He won a World Series as a member of the 1997 Marlins.

John Smoltz, Braves

According to the Baseball Hall of Fame website, Smoltz is the only pitcher to ever amass 200 wins and 150 saves in his career (had 213 and 154 respectively). He was the 1996 NL Cy Young, and his 3,084 strikeout are the 17th-most all-time.

Shane Victorino, Phillies

Known as the ‘Flyin’ Hawaiian’, Victorino was one of the main catalysts on the Phillies in 2009 and Red Sox in 2013, two teams that went on to win the World Series. He was a four-time Gold Glove winner for his work in the outfield and a two-time All-Star.
