Nebraska football is just eight days away from their season opener. That made Friday's press conference a bit more intriguing than previous ones that have taken place in fall camp. Huskers' coach shed some light on his thinking as we barrel towards one of the most anticipated seasons in the last few decades.

1

The black alternate uniforms are going to be used a lot

While alternate uniforms, like the one rolled out last week, tend to be "one and done," Frost made it clear that's not the case with these. During his press conference, he said he'd like to have black home and away jerseys. He added that he'd like to use them as a reward for a good defensive performance the week before. He said he'd like to do this starting next year.

2

Cam Jurgens is the starting center

At least for now, the Nebraska football team has found it's starting center. The redshirt freshman from Beatrice has beaten out Will Farniok.

3

Depth Chart coming soon

While Frost gave a sneak peek of the depth chart at center, the Huskers' coach said the full depth chart will likely be released either Sunday or Monday. He added people should read a ton into it as changes could come even before the first game.

4

Backup quarterback unsettled

Adrian Martinez is the Huskers' starting quarterback. That's not in doubt. When it comes to backing him up, things are still fluid. He said who is the #2 and #3 quarterbacks changes daily, if not hourly. That's in no small part thanks to true freshman Luke McCaffrey's emergence this fall.

5

Walk on gets a scholly and a start

One other starter on the offensive line was revealed today was well. Walk On Trent Hixson is said to be the favorite to be the starter at left guard against South Alabama. As a reward for his hard work, Frost announced he received a scholarship on Friday.
