The next team up in this series of top 10 draft picks since 1990 is the Detroit Pistons.
In order to make this list, the player must have actually been drafted by the Pistons. Only the player’s impact with Detroit is considered (someone like Khris Middleton started playing a large role once he went to the Milwaukee Bucks). Where the player was selected makes a difference (if a 26th overall pick had about as much impact as a fifth overall pick, then the 26th overall pick will be higher).
All draft picks were found at Basketball-Reference.
Grant Hill - First round, third overall (1994)
Inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2018, Hill spent his first six seasons with Detroit where his all-around game led to five All-Star appearances with them as well and five straight top-nine MVP finishes from 1995-96 until 1999-00.
Tayshaun Prince - First round, 23rd overall (2002)
In Pistons franchise history, Prince ranks fifth in games played (792) and three-pointers made (510), eighth in points (10,006), and ninth in assists (2,074).
Andre Drummond- First round, ninth overall (2012)
Through his first seven years in the league, Drummond has led the league in rebounding three times (including each of the last two seasons) and has averaged over 13 points and 13 rebounds in each of the last six seasons. The team website recently reviewed his 2018-19 season.
Greg Monroe - First round, seventh overall (2010)
An excellent rebounder, Monroe grabbed at least 9.3 boards in each of his last four seasons with Detroit while averaging over 15 points in all of those years as well.
Lindsey Hunter - First round, 10th overall (1993)
Solid yet unspectacular, Hunter played 12 seasons (over two stints) with Detroit. His 703 games with the team are the sixth-most in Pistons history and he was a quality reserve on the 2004 championship team.
Jerome Williams - First round, 26th overall (1996)
Known as the Junkyard Dog, Williams averaged 9.6 rebounds for Detroit in the 1999-00 season, despite only starting one of his 82 appearances.
Allan Houston - First round, 11th overall (1993)
While he played just three years with Detroit, Houston did average 19.7 points a contest in his final season there before signing a large deal to join the New York Knicks.
Jason Maxiell - First round, 26th overall (2005)
Maxiell averaged nearly 20 minutes an outing over eight seasons with the Pistons, playing excellent post defense while posting averages of 6.1 points and 4.4 rebounds.
Rodney Stuckey - First round, 15th overall (2007)
Stuckey played seven seasons with the Pistons, and his best one came in 2009-10, when he averaged career bests in scoring (16.6), rebounding (3.8), and steals (1.4).
Jonas Jerebko - Second round, 39th overall (2009)
Jerebko started 73 games as a rookie as he was named a Second Team All-Rookie member, averaging 9.3 points and 6.0 rebounds.
