The Nebraska baseball team took out the Baylor Bears on Saturday afternoon 2-0, meaning that they have won their first series of the season since they took two of three from lowly UC Riverside. The big difference is that this win was against the 21st ranked team in the country.

Pitching has been huge
Following on a masterful performance on Friday from Matt Waldron, Nate Fisher almost had himself a combo-not hitter. He finished the game with eight innings pitched, no hits, one walk and six strikeouts. The pen couldn't close out the no-hitter but it was still an incredible outing for the Huskers.

Colby Gomes keeps being invaluable
There are few impact freshmen in the country the way Colby Gomes has been an impact so far this season. On Saturday, he went 2-4 at the plate, then came in to close out the game and get his second save of the season.
A couple things to watch for Nebraska-Baylor Game 2:
— Evan Bland (@EvanBlandOWH) March 9, 2019
> LH Nate Fisher is the only Husker to start each weekend. Five quality innings would put NU in great shape.
> Colby Gomes was robbed of two homers Friday. Can the frosh continue to force his way into the lineup?
Luke Roskam is having himself a series
One day after hitting a homer and driving in four, Roskam was instrumental in Saturday's win. He didn't get a hit, but he did have a Sac fly that drove in the Huskers first, and ultimately winning run.

Giant killers
The Nebraska baseball team is likely starting to make some noise. This was their third straight victory against a Top 25 team. That's going to bode well as we go further into the season and we start talking about resumes.

Doing it without big bashers
The Huskers improved to 6-6 on the season in the victory over Baylor. They have, at the very least, taken the series. They are doing all of this without a ton of power generated. The team hit three homers yesterday and that was the first three of the season. They are still at three for the team in the season. Baylor, in comparison, doesn't have a homer in the series but has nine as a team on the season.
