A weighted blanket
Weighted blankets are relatively new items but they are gaining in popularity. The slight pressure on you can make you feel secure and allow you to drift off.
White noise machines
These are not nearly as new as weighted blankets. These will drown out any noises you might here from outside the room, or the house. The white noise isn't particularly loud, but it's enough to allow the insomniac to focus on those noises.
Sunrise mimicking alarm clock
The clock doesn't give off a ton of light at night, but in the morning, it will gradually increase the brightness. This allows for a restful sleep and a peaceful awakening.

Kindle Paperwhite
The paperwhite is a device that will allow you to read at night without keeping you up. There has been lots of talk about how the light from smart devices can keep people awake. The paperwhite's light doesn't have that effect so you can read when you're having problems sleeping and actually get tired and fall asleep later.

There are all kinds of aroma therapy mists that will allow people to surround themselves with certain scents that can calm and even help people sleep.
