The first month of 2019, is a great month for films. Kevin Hart is back on the big screen, Matthew McConaughey brings us another edge of your seat thriller. These are only what are considered the five best movies being released this month.
The Upside - January 11
"The Upside" was released this weekend and stars Kevin Hart and Bryan Cranston. The film focuses on the relationship/friendship between a quadriplegic (Cranston) and a man (Hart) with a criminal record who is hired to help him. The film debuted at the Toronto Film Festival in 2017, but didn't get a theater release until this weekend.
Glass - January 18
"Glass" is the third film that serves as a sequel to M Night Syamalan films "Unbreakable" and "Split." The film stars Bruce Willis, James mcAvoy and Samuel L. Jackson, with all three reprising their roles as shadowy villains, who believe they are superheroes.
Serenity - January 25
"Serenity" is a neo-noir thriller that stars Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway. The focuses on a fish boat captain who is asked by his ex-wife to murder her new husband.
The Standoff at Sparrow Creek - January 18
"The Standoff at Sparrow Creek" tells the story of a ex-cop who is part of a militia group, where a member opened fire at a police funeral. He then holds a series of interrogations, aimed at finding the true killer.
The Kid Who Would Become King - January 25
"The Kid Who Would Be King" is a new take on the story of King Arthurt. The film stars Rebecca Ferguson, Patrick Stewart, and Tom Taylor.
