Russia probe

Special Counsel Robert Mueller continues to investigate the White House and claims that Russia interfered in the 2016 election. In a surprise move, Trump's personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, ended up flipping on his boss and spoke to Mueller and his team. Cohen ended up being sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to charges of tax evasion, campaign finance violations, and lying to Congress.

Brett Kavanaugh fiery confirmation

Brett Kavanaugh nearly lost the opportunity to become a justice on the Supreme Court after multiple women came forward, accusing him of sexual misconduct. One accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, claims Kavanaugh attacked her at a house party. The two ended up testifying before the Senate in September. Kavanaugh was eventually sworn in as a justice in October.

Florida election scandal

As votes began to pour in for the midterm election in Florida for the Senate and gubernatorial races it appeared to be heading for a recount. Recounts were triggered, with Republicans Rick Scott and Ron DeSantis both winning their races. Broward County Supervisor of Elections, Brenda Snipes, became the focal point of the election scandal. Trump even called for her to be removed from office. Florida's governor, Rick Scott, suspended her from office in November.

New York government abuse of power allegations

As the #MeToo movement began to sweep across the country, New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman was forced to resign after multiple women accused him of physical and emotional abuse. A New Yorker article by Ronan Farrow accuses of Schneiderman of hitting and choking women without their consent. Schneiderman denied these allegations, but still resigned from his post.

White House cabinet shakeups

Scandals have rocked the White House, forcing many cabinet members to resign from their posts. Some of those who have resigned are Attorney General Jeff Sessions, National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster, and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson. Defense Secretary James Mattis is leaving his post on January 1.
