These five musicians passed away in 2018 and leave a legacy of their creations for the world.

In 2018, a number of high profile individuals passed away, including former President George W. Bush and First Lady Barbara Bush. Actors including R. Lee Ermey, Harry Anderson, Margot Kidder, Verne Troyer, and Burt Reynolds also passed. There was also the passing of Marvel creator, Stan Lee. Below are five musicians who the world also lost in 2018.

Aretha Franklin - R&B, pop star

Franklin became known as the "Queen of Soul." Her catalog of hits included "R.E.S.P.E.C.T." and "Pink Cadillac," among other popular songs. Franklin passed away at age 76 on August 16, due to pancreatic cancer.

Avicii - electronic dance DJ star

Avicii, real name Tim Bergling, was a popular Swedish musician who was known for his electronic dance music. He won American Music awards and Billboard awards. Avicii was also nominated for Grammys in 2013 and 2017. He passed away on April 20, 2018, at age 28, with his death ruled a suicide.

Mac Miller - hip-hop star

Miller was a hip-hop artist known for his songs that included "Donald Trump" and "Best Day of My Life." He was a guest star on other hip-hop songs for various artists and dated singer Ariana Grande for nearly two years before they split up in 2018. Weeks after the release of his album, "Swimming," Miller was found dead at age 26, due to an overdose.

Charles Neville - jazz, R&B star

Neville famously played backup for the legendary B.B. King in his early days. He'd ultimately join the group, The Neville Brothers, for his rise to fame. He passed away at age 76, on April 26.

XXXTentacion - hip-hop star

XXXTentacion was another hip-hop star lost in his 20s. He was a controversial figure, due to his reported abuse of his ex-girlfriend. Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy was shot on June 18, 2018, as three men robbed him outside of a motorcycle dealership. He was just 20 years old, and his latest album, released just last week, with a debut at No. 1 on the Billboard chart.
