The Detroit Tigers are in a “rebuilding era,” or so the media reports. Manager Ron Gardenhire believes that his team can compete in 2019 for the AL Central crown - and he may be right. The Central seems to be up for grabs, especially considering that the Cleveland Indians seem to be content in trading off key players.
The Tigers have made a few offseason moves, but signing one or more free agents still available on the market would greatly help their odds in 2019.
Jed Lowrie -- 2nd base
As solid as they come. Great in the field, and a career average near .270. The price tag on Lowrie isn’t too high either. Lowrie would solidify the right side of the Tigers infield instantly.
Avisail Garcia -- OF
The former Tigers is a free agent that would bring pop to the lineup. With trade rumors of Nick Castellanos never ending, Garcia could fill in instantly in right field. Could they bring back "Mini-Miggy?"
Dallas Keuchel -- LHP
In a huge ballpark like Comerica, Keuchel could be the lefty the Tigers need. Adding a proven winner like Keuchel to a young rotation could be just what the Tigers need in 2019.
Nick Markakis -- OF
Another solid veteran that could fill the hole of trading away Castellanos. It also would give the Tigers nice punch from the left side.
Brian Dozier -- 2nd base
Long time Tigers killer, he doesn't make a ton of money, and he is solid as a rock!
