Each and every year, the debate rages on as to which Christmas movies are the best of all time. Some of these may be a part of the list, while others are simply for laughs. Here are five Christmas comedies to check out this holiday season.
Home Alone - Macaulay Culkin (1990)
This iconic Christmas classic features Kevin forgotten by his vacationing family as they rush off on their trip. With his family out of the house, he looks to enjoy his freedom and the house, until a few robbers try to intervene. Luckily, Kevin has himself prepared to thwart their efforts.
Elf - Will Ferrell (2003)
One of Will Ferrell's classic comedies has become a timeless Christmas favorite. In the movie he plays Buddy the Elf, who discovers he's actually human, and ventures out to NYC to meet his real dad. In the process, he also attempts to bring the Christmas cheer to people who need it most.
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989)
Clark Griswold is back again as he tries to bring the most "fun-filled old-fashioned family Christmas ever." Of course, things go awry as the various relatives begin to arrive on the scene including Cousin Eddie and his family. Chevy Chase, Beverly D'Angelo, and Juliette Lewis are amongst the film's stars.
Office Christmas Party (2016)
This is a newer entry to the Christmas comedies and may not be for everyone's taste. It stars an ensemble cast including Jason Bateman, T.J. Miller, Olivia Munn, and Jennifer Aniston. The title gives an accurate description of what the film is about, but it's far from the average version with a tag line of "Party like your job depends on it."
The Night Before (2015)
In "The Night Before," viewers see Seth Rogen, Joseph-Gordon Levitt, and Anthony Mackie starring as three childhood friends. They're in search of the holy grail of Christmas parties in New York City. Michael Shannon and Mindy Kaling are also part of the the film which received a 67 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes.
