There are never-ending arguments like black or white, summer or winter, science or religion, eternal life or eternal youth, that have bothered humanity for centuries. In the last 80 years, the foundation of the modern computer science and artificial intelligence brought forth by Alan Turing raised a new dispute. The questions “Is the Artificial Intelligence the Future?” and “Would it enhance or harm our society?” are being asked more often.

As usual, people are afraid of the unknown future. But that wasn't the case 200 years ago before the Industrial Revolution?

And yet the machines took a significant part in our lives. Nevertheless, the world is still controlled by the humanity, not by some robots or computers.

And here comes the biggest fear. What if the future AI devices become so smart that they could recreate themselves? Why not? If the future AI machines could do our jobs, talk like us, and do almost everything like a human, they could quickly start their reproduction without human interaction. We know that human logic and nature are unpredictable. If we build something so sophisticated like a real human, it could start doing whatever it wants. Sounds like a Stephen King horror, isn’t it?

Anyway, creating something like that is probably in the very distant future.

Moreover, it’s almost impossible and likely, too expensive. Hopefully, the world’s governments learned the lesson that extreme and radical behavior is not beneficial to our planet. Therefore, if the production of AI is in the right hands, we could only benefit from it.

Pros

Multitasking, working fast, digital support for various industries, no emotions which could affect the work performance.

There are many advantages which could enhance the quality of our work. The buzzle says that AI could be used as well for making new scientific discoveries, like sending robots to explore space. But could a machine replace a human?

Cons

Many people will lose their jobs when being replaced by AI. Also, people will become lazier relying on a machine to do their job.

And most importantly, the lack of emotions is a double edge sword. The robots don’t have real heart, brain or eyes. They only do, what they are programmed to do. They wouldn't stop working because they are sad or tired. But they would never do anything spontaneous which is essential for any creative work.

Artificial is not real

Although, a great tool which will have many benefits to our society, the AI is not real. Only a real human could inspire or teach us real emotions. Recently, the AI industry started producing Sex Robots which according to the specialists offer almost real intimate experience.

The Sun states that there are some real-life stories of people who fell in love with their artificial companions. But being in a relationship means to give and receive love and learn from your partner. If you don’t know how to express your feelings, how could you learn that from a robot?
