Fisker wants to corner a market share of electric cars with its model that can outdo other brands and give a tough fight. It is a rival of Tesla and has launched the EMotion electric luxury saloon at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. This car boasts of a range of 400 miles with a top speed of over 160 mph. Of course, there is a limitation – the car can get either the long range or the high speed but not both at the same time. A report by the L.A. Times provided much of the information used in this article.

Daily Mail UK reports that the car would have the vegan touch by dispensing with leather interiors.

It would have a vegan option and could enter the market by 2020 with a price tag of nearly $129,000.

About the car Fisker EMotion

The Fisker EMotion is a four-wheel drive car that will be available in four- or five-seat formats. Its construction has seen extensive use of carbon fiber and aluminum which makes it light. It has a lot in common with Model S of Tesla which is considered to be a benchmark for the Electric car. EMotion would have doors of butterfly design that open upward. Moreover, it can take over automatic control via the wide range of gadgets installed to meet the needs of high-end users.

In the Consumer Electronics Show, the company revealed its solid-state battery technology that is claimed to be able to charge an EV in the short span of one minute.

It expects to achieve a single-charge range of more than 500 miles. The location of the production site in the United States has not yet been declared but is scheduled to begin in 2019.

Tesla is missing deadlines

The Los Angeles Times adds that Tesla is missing deadlines that had been set by its CEO Elon Musk. The company had promised to capture the market of electric cars and planned to flood the market with its Model 3.

It had a price tag of $35,000 to $60,000 and people have already deposited $1,000 each to book their cars. This new Model 3 is crucial to the company’s success, but it can attain full-scale production only by the end of June. Production bottlenecks have delayed deliveries and this is seen as a major setback.

The electric car is one of the solutions to tackle global warming because it does away with fossil fuels.

These fuels are responsible for generating greenhouse gases which contribute to the increase in temperatures. As a part of the Paris climate accord, many countries have opted to encourage electric cars, and companies like Fisker and Tesla have taken a lead. Elon Musk will have to resolve the problems in the auto assembly plant and battery plant to ensure that the momentum is not lost.
