There was much speculation in the media after it was announced that one person had won the Mega Millions jackpot, with many wondering who the lucky person could be. Shane Missler of Port Richey, Fl, was reportedly quiet for a while after learning he was the sole winner of an amazing $450 million in the Mega Millions lottery on January 5.

Whereas many of us would scream the news to the world in our excitement, according to Florida Lottery, Shane first called his brother to announce the lucky winner and he then he told his father about it over coffee the following morning.

The only comment he initially made on social media after finding out about his lottery win was a resounding. “Oh. My. God.” Missler is now planning to help his family and to do “good for humanity” with his humongous win, as well as leave a legacy for the future.

Lottery winner has a Business Management degree

After leaving school, Missler received a Business Management degree at Northern Essex Community College, located in Haverhill, Mass., which will no doubt aid him in managing the enormous windfall. He was recently working at Universal Background Screening as a verifications specialist and has, in the past, worked for Sam’s Club and the Atkinson Resort and Country Club.

Winner plans to help his family and use the money for good

Following his lottery win, Missler told Florida Lottery that despite the fact he is only 20, he hopes to use the money for good and to follow a variety of his passions.

He also plans to help his family and generally do something worthwhile with all that money. Shane reportedly is a believer in the power of positive thinking and said he wasn’t surprised he won, as he had a feeling that he might do so. He plans on using the money in a sensible way, having completed a crash course in financial management.

Florida Lottery reports that Missler has chosen to take a lump sum payment of $281.2 million and according to his attorney, has already set up his own private limited company under the moniker “Secret 007, LLC.” While Shane has officially “retired” from his employment, he does say he intends to care for his family, have a little fun along the way and most importantly to cement a path to financial success in order to leave a legacy for what to him is the far and distant future.

Quick Pick was the lucky option for Shane

As noted by the International Business Times, the store where Missler bought the lucky winning ticket was a 7-Eleven in Port Richey.

He didn’t choose his numbers, as he bought five Mega Millions tickets using the Quick Pick option, of which the fourth combination turned out to be the lucky one with the numbers 28, 30, 39, 59 and 70, and a Mega Ball number of 10. The store will also get lucky, as it will receive a $100,000 bonus award for selling Shane the winning ticket.

While Shane has gone public with his lucky win, according to the IBTimes, the winner of $560 million in the Powerball lottery is still unknown. All anyone reportedly knows is that the person bought the ticket in New Hampshire.
