People’s daily lives are more or less dictated by their habits - waking up at the same time, going to work, having lunch etc. all bring the feeling of accomplishment and normalcy. For that reason, many people are afraid of change. It takes them out of their comfort zone and makes them fear the unknown. However, our daily habits don’t always bring out the best in us and they lull us into a false sense of security. In order to grow as individuals and professionals, people should always strive to cultivate habits that will help them become more successful.
We accomplish our goals one step at a time, doing a little each day. So, using your day effectively is important.
1. Plan your day ahead
Some people will claim it’s best to live in the present and not think about tomorrow, but most successful people don’t let things just happen to them, but they plan them ahead. Of course, there are some things that they can’t control, but it’s always good to spare a few minutes and plan the day that follows. You can write it down and put priorities first, as it’s unlikely that the day will go just the way you planned. Decide what comes first so you’ll be able to get those tasks done if you don’t have time for everything.
Try to stay organized as clutter usually results in a lack of focus.
Some people even claim it’s best to wake up an hour early because our willpower and attention span are strongest in the morning.
2. Don't compare yourself to others
Some kind of healthy competition between people can serve as motivation, but it can also have a negative impact on individuals. Successful people learn from other people’s mistakes, their victories, what to do, what not to do.
However, if you start comparing your progress to theirs, instead of using their stories as inspiration, you can feel jealous, stressed, unworthy, which stops you from thriving.
Successful people understand their way is unique and it’s up to them to write their own story. Focusing on other people just distracts you and takes away the time that you could have used for something productive.

3. Set goals and take action
Setting goals gives us something to live for every day and pushes us forward. Successful people understand things don’t always work out the way you want them to, but they know that setting goals gives you motivation and the sense of purpose. They set high goals that are both realistic and measurable, and they make an effort to work towards those goals every day.
Successful people don’t wait for things to happen to them, they believe in themselves and go for what they want. When you take action, you trigger all kinds of things that will inevitably carry you to success.
Even if they fail, successful people don’t let that demotivate them, but they learn from their own experiences and mistakes.
4. Stay connected
Successful people are aware of the fact that it’s not always about what you know, but who you know. They go out, meet new people, and take up new things in order to make more connections. Surrounding yourself with many people from your area of interest will also serve as motivation and will push you to learn new things from them every day.
5. Stay healthy and exercise
Although every business brings a lot of inevitable stress, successful people understand it’s important to let the negative energy out in order to stay focused and productive. Exercise keeps you fit, but it also keeps your brain healthy, minimizes stress, and improves memory. In fact, using too much work as an excuse not to exercise is counterproductive. Exercising can actually help boost people’s productivity and creativity while keeping us healthy.
