The Common Cold, also known as a cold, is one of the major viral diseases in the world. The virus mainly affects the upper respiratory tract, throat, nose, sinuses, and the voice box. Signs and symptoms include coughing, runny nose, headache, fever, sore throat, and sneezing. Adults usually recover in two to five days, but it is difficult for babies to recover from the complication.

More than two hundred virus strains cause a common cold; the rhinoviruses cause cold in seventy percent individuals. Risk factors include lack of sleep, psychological problems, anxiety, stress, depression, severe headache, and weak immunity.

The American Academy of Pediatrics says that we should use Lemon Juice, yogurt, and other similar remedies to prevent and treat colds. Home treatments are far better and more effective than antibiotics.

Sponge bath

To reduce fever or cold in babies and toddlers, you should give them a sponge bath once in a day. Soak a washcloth hot water, and sponge feet, groin, and hands to prevent and treat colds. Alternatively, you can try a piece of silk cloth for better results. Place it on baby’s forehead for a few minutes or until you see improvements. You should not compromise on the quality of baby soaps.

Lemons help boost immunity and help fight the flu, cough, colds, and other similar diseases. Lemons are best known for their antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory properties. They naturally help reduce a sore throat, coughing, and runny nose. Provide your child with two glasses of fresh lemon juice every day for better results.

Alternatively, you may add a few drops of lemon juice to two teaspoons of ginger slices to prepare a mixture. Consume it for several days to see improvements. For babies younger than one year, lemon juice should be served without honey or sugar.


Honey is one of the safest, easiest, and most efficient remedies for children from one to four years.

If you are suffering from a cough or common cold, make honey a part of your daily diet. It has sufficient antioxidant, antifungal, antibacterial and immune-boosting properties that prevent and treat coughing and colds.

Honey is also good for a sore throat and kills the harmful viruses and bacteria that cause infections. Mix two tablespoons of raw honey and three teaspoons of lemon juice. Give it to your baby for several days, or until you see improvements. You can also include honey in a cup of hot water to prevent a dry cough, common cold, and chest pain.
