With the growing concern for environmental protection. Governments around the mandated decreases in fuel emission on vehicles. As a result, car companies responded by limiting the CO2 emission among their new models. The race to produce a car with 0 emissions started. The best way to achieve this goal is to invest heavily in Electric car technology.

Government Subsidies for electric cars

The initial investment in electric car technology became very costly. Only people in the upper strata can purchase the new Electric Cars parading out of factories.

These vehicles became more of a status symbol rather than an environment-friendly solution to automobiles in reducing CO2 emission. The new car technology is doomed from the very start because of the high cost. Something must be done to make electric vehicles affordable to the masses.

PluginCars reported that government incentives were given to reduce not only the cost but the selling price as well. Consumers buying hybrids and electric cars were given tax credits of $2,500 to $7,500 based on the battery size of the car. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act provided a tax credit for manufacturers making hybrid and electric cars. Even electricity cost incentive was given to owners of hybrid and electric cars.

All of these were done to make the price of the vehicles more affordable to the public.

It is the most affordable electric car manufactured by Tesla

Tesla Motors recently launched the Tesla Model 3 in the market. It cost only $35,000 or priced almost the same as gasoline powered cars. Elon Musk, Tesla CEO, revealed that more than 500.000 customers already made a reservation to own one.

Tesla will have a hard time fulfilling the orders until next year. This was the first time also for employees to afford their own Tesla cars.

The Tesla Model 3 has two battery options. The first option is the standard range battery model. It has a range of 220 miles on one full charge and cost only $35,000 it can accelerate from 0 – 60 mph in 5.6 seconds and can supercharge at a rate of 130 miles per 30 minutes.

The long range battery option has a range of 310 miles but cost $44,000. Acceleration rate is 5.1 seconds from 0 – 60 mph and can be charged at a rate of 170 miles range in 30 mins.

The Model 3 does not need key to open doors and start

The Tesla Model 3 just made car keys obsolete. The owner can download a special app to enable its smartphone its key. It will emit a Bluetooth signal that unlocks the door when they are approaching the vehicle. The phone can be used to start the car as well. In case the phone lost its charge or simply got lost, a special card is equipped with the same functions. Although other company offers the same technology, only Tesla offers it to all Model 3 options.

Only 30 cars have been delivered so far.

The company projects to deliver a hundred more by the end of August this year. Its main target is to fulfill the more than half a million reservation by end of next year. To accommodate all the 500,000 cars on the road, the company plans to add additional supercharging station from the existing 10,000 by the end of the year. Car owners need to pay when charging from the supercharging station. It will be free if they will use the slower stations.
