With Sunday's big WWE "SummerSlam 2017" pay-per-view, there have been plenty of rumors about who will win and lose. In addition to that, the rumor mill heated up even more as recent photos surfaced on social media. These images showed the legendary wrestler known as The Undertaker. However, based on his health and his previous match at "WrestleMania 33," does this mean he's coming back for more within the WWE? Here's the latest on The Undertaker ahead of tonight's big PPV event.

Image raises speculation

Within the past day or so, an image arrived online showing what looked like Mark Calaway (a.k.a.

The Undertaker) on board a flight. The image indicated that the person who took the photo was on the same flight headed for New York City. That's where Saturday night's "NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III" and Sunday's "SummerSlam 2017" pay-per-view events are both being held.

Adding to the speculation is a recent report from All Wrestling News. The site indicated that Wrestling Observer Newsletter journalist Dave Meltzer speculated that the "Deadman" could be at "SummerSlam" to get involved in the Fatal 4-Way match.

Meltzer suggested that Taker may end up being the one to cost Roman Reigns a win in this Universal Championship match, leading to another Reigns vs. Undertaker match at this year's "Survivor Series 2017."

Will Taker be at 'SummerSlam'?

Meltzer also said it's possible that The Undertaker could be in New York for some sort of "extra' work with the company.

That could be the recording of interview bits or parts for WWE programming. He could also be there just to hang out, watch the show, and talk with various superstars backstage.

The Undertaker has not been heard from since losing his "WrestleMania 33" match back in April to Roman Reigns. Fans watched as the legendary pro wrestler removed his trademark ring gear, including his coat, hat, and gloves, placing them down on the mat.

Undertaker then exited the ring, kissed his wife Michelle McCool in the front row, and descended into the ramp with smoke around him. It was believed by many fans that Taker was basically retiring from in-ring competition.

However, Taker has undergone surgery in the months since then. If The Undertaker happens to get involved tonight to set up a big return it will certainly make for another surprising moment for WWE fans. However, based on his previous match at "Mania" and news of his ongoing hip issues and surgery, he probably won't be getting into the ring again soon. If he does, then he just may have taken a page out of "John Cena's super fast injury recovery guide." Then again, he is a "Phenom" so anything's possible.

WWE fans, what do you think The Undertaker is in New York for? Will he play a part in tonight's WWE "SummerSlam 2017" PPV?
