The Boston Celtics were midway through game two of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers and all-star point guard was benched with a hip injury. This was a hip that had previously affected him. Thomas received treatment and was advised to miss the rest of the game. After getting the injury checked up after the Celtics game two loss to the Cavaliers, it was revealed that the hip injury was very serious and would have Isaiah out for the rest of the playoffs, and may require offseason surgery. This was huge news around the league, everyone began talking about it.

Although the injury may not change the outcome of the series, it still is a significant factor due to the caliber of player IT is. LeBron talked about the injury.

LeBron James compliments Isaiah's season and talks injury

isaiah thomas had his best season of his career averaging career-best stats across the board with 28.9 points per game (third best in the NBA), 5.9 assists per game, 2.7 rebounds per game, 0.9 steals per game and 0.2 blocks. He also shot 46.3% from the field, 37.9% from behind the arc and 90.9% from the free throw line. Although his great season doesn't look to be ending the way he would've wished it to. The C's are currently down 2-1 against the Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals series heading into game 4 at the Quicken Loans Arena.

CSNNE cited LeBron James who spoke to reporters about the injury to Isaiah Thomas, as saying, "We hate that Isaiah got hurt. Salute to him on an unbelievable season, what he was able to accomplish this year and... in the postseason, under the circumstances with the tragic death of his sister. But, for us as a unit, it's never been about one guy, not our focus."

LeBron mentioned that the Cavaliers still have to prepare for games the same and have a game plan heading into each game.

The Celtics are still a well-coached team with a lot of talent James stated, it's about "the team effort".

LeBron showing pure respect for the 5 foot 9 point guard. This was a tragic postseason for him, after the death of a close family member. But James looks at the bigger picture and knows on any given night, the Celtics can upset the Cavaliers.

And that's exactly what happened in game three.

Boston shocked Cleveland in game three

After going up 2-0 in commanding fashion during the East Finals series, the Cavaliers looked like they were on their way to a third straight series sweep, but the Celtics had other thoughts. Although this was their first game in a while without superstar point guard Isaiah Thomas, they pulled off a miracle, coming back from down 20+ points and winning the game on a buzzer beater from Avery Bradley. This was one of the most unexpected things to happen in this year's playoffs, especially considering the fact that Cleveland went up by 50 points and won against the Celtics at the TD Garden in game two. Game three in Cleveland's court looked almost a lock for the Cavs to win, but I guess crazy things happen-- that's the NBA playoffs for you.
