The Brown family, together with their avid followers, was devastated after Ami was diagnosed having a type 3B lung cancer last month. “Ami started getting sick months ago, and we didn’t know what it was, but it changed from the point of ‘something’s wrong’ to ‘something’s wrong’” Billy Brown said on the June 28 episode.

Shortly after the diagnosis, the family decided to shut down their homestead to focus on Ami’s medication. Sheila McCormack previously told People that the Brown matriarch needs to undergo radiation therapy five times a week for one and a half months.

Billy’s wife will also have to get a four-hour chemotherapy once a week. The “Alaskan Bush People” executive producer even revealed that Ami is now a frail 89.4 lbs. and has a 3 percent survival rate only.

Ami Brown was surrounded by her family when turned 53-years-old on Thursday, August 31.
