For one-half of “NCIS: LA”, the Season 8 finale will change their lives…and not necessarily for the better. The season finale is bearing down on us, and the creative minds behind the West Coast Avengers are busy cooking up something special. While an episode summary is still in the offing, the cast and executive producer R. Scott Gemmill dropped a few tantalizing teasers as the cast took on Paley Fest.

An ‘NCIS: LA’ cliffhanger

As season 7 came to a close, CBS’ premiere primetime drama broke with its tradition of bookending the hiatus with an explosive finale/premiere combo.

Now, however, fans should prepare to white-knuckle their way through the summer as the cast films “Unleashed” and the season 9 opener, “Uncaged.”

For Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) and Kensi (Daniela Ruah), the one-two punch will work to set up the couple’s next storyline.

“We have a big cliffhanger for the end of season 8 and I think we’ll find out kind of what’s going on with [Densi] and then into season 9 I think it’s going to develop more,” Olsen told a sea of fans at Los Angeles’ Paley Fest last week.

The actor than tiptoed around a question regarding the good/bad nature of the cliffhanger, leaving fans to wonder what exactly the future holds for “NCIS: LA”’s power couple. Another proposal would certainly tip the scales towards happiness, but the potential reemergence of LAPD Detective Ellen Whiting (Karina Logue) could spell disaster.

Hetty and Kensi were willing to overlook Deeks’ homicide admission because they believed the ends justified the means, but Whiting possesses a firm black and white view of the law.

Photos from the set of “Unleashed”/”Uncaged” show a jail cell, which could spell disaster for Deeks. Then again, heading behind bars isn’t out of the norm for the agents.

Sam (LL Cool J), meanwhile, will also have to watch his back.

"Sam's life is going to change,” Gemill teased.

“Kensi and Deek's life is going to change based on the finale."

Next time on ‘NCIS: LA'

‘NCIS: LA’ will take a one-week hiatus until April 9, whereupon it will return with “From Havana with Love.”

“The NCIS team investigates a defense contractor, Rebecca Larmont (Shanna Collins)…after her estranged husband, Victor Larmont (Lou Ferrigno Jr.), says he has proof she is selling Navy secrets to a foreign government,” CBS teased. “Also, Kensi goes undercover as a professional dancer at the Cuban club where the husband works, while Deeks is undercover as the bathroom attendant.”

Poor Deeks gets the worst covers. At least he’ll get a break from being a janitor.

"NCIS: LA" airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
