Experts have confirmed that they have discovered 7 Earth-like planets revolving around a dwarf star. According to Brice-Olivier Demory of the Center for Space and Habitability at the University of Bern in Switzerland, astronomers have never seen anything like this. These planets look exactly like our Earth. In case, water and oxygen are present there; then life will also be present. The exoplanets are revolving around star "TRAPPIST-1." The newly discovered planetary system is only 39 light-years from our Earth.
When will scientists discover life?
When asked that when will Scientists discover life, Demory said that it is not possible to discover life in the next two to three years. They have to look for a lot of things such as if water is present on the newly discovered planets. Probably, within next few decades, scientists of the Institute of Astronomy will give us the good news that life has been discovered on another planet.
A bizarre alien system
TRAPPIST-1, an ultracool dwarf star, is slightly bigger than solar system’s planet, Jupiter. It is smaller and dimmer than our Sun. Michael Gillon of the University of Liege has begun studying the characteristics of the star and 7 Earth-like planets. Gillon and his team have used the TRAnsiting Planets and PlanetesImals Small Telescope (TRAPPIST) for this purpose.
These two instruments are present at the La Silla Observatory in Chile. In May 2016, Gillon claimed that he had discovered worlds where aliens possibly exist. Later on, he named the three planets as TRAPPIST-1b, TRAPPIST-1c, and TRAPPIST-1d. He has said that the three planets are the size of our Earth and capable of supporting life.
Moreover, the properties of those planets are similar to that of our Earth.
In September 2016, an observation campaign by NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope helped to discover the new planetary system. Its three big planets look exactly like our Earth. Their surfaces, structure, size, and distance from the star are almost the same. This is why researchers hope that soon they will discover aliens.
