Samsung and Apple are always locked in an endless competition with each other. Each year, the tech companies attempt at offering the best of their innovation in the market. There are times when Samsung manages to outdo Apple and vice versa. This year, Samsung launched its Galaxy Note 8. At the same time, Apple introduced its iPhone X to mark ten years with the iPhone family.

Specifications

Apple iPhone X features a 5.8-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2,436 x 1,125 pixels. Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8, on the other hand – comes with a slightly larger display, 6.3-inch OLED panel with a resolution of 2,960 x 1,440 pixels.

It’s obvious that Galaxy Note 8 packs a comparatively larger body too. In terms of dimensions, the handset measures 162.5mm x 74.8 mm x 8.6 mm. While, iPhone X packs 143.6mm x 70.9mm x 7.7mm. Apple made only two storage options available, i.e., 64GB or 256GB of ROM along with (speculated) 3GB of RAM. The same inbuilt memory option is available with Galaxy Note 8, but this device offers 6GB of RAM and an optional microSD card slot. The smartphone is further powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 system-on-chip, with a massive 3,300mAh battery onboard and Android Nougat 7.1.1. The iPhone X houses A11 “Bionic” chipset along with 2,716mAh battery onboard and the latest IOS 11. Both offer users with the option of wireless charging.

On the camera front, iPhone X features a 7-megapixel front 3D camera along with a dual 12-megapixel rear sensor. The Note 8 packs an 8-megapixel front camera along with a 12-megapixel rear system.

Design

One primary similarity between the two smartphones is that they both pack edge-to-edge displays. But Note 8 features a larger front panel.

Smartphone users usually prefer larger displays because of their daily activities such as watching movies or playing games. The iPhone X – on the other hand, features a premium glass backing. The Cupertino giant even got rid of the physical home button to complete the bezel-less look. Instead, they opted for a facial recognition software.

Users can simply look at the smartphone and unlock it.

Apple launched its iPhone X at a starting price of $999 – making it the most expensive smartphone by the company till date. The price increases with the 256GB option. Note 8, on the other hand, is available for $850. It’s a tough choice to make between the two. Overall, both are dubbed as best device in the high-end smartphone market.
