Xiaomi released the custom skin Miui 9 back in July. At the time of the launch, it was only available for a limited number of smartphones. The list of devices that received the update included Mi 5X. According to a report by Phone Arena, the company has now announced the MIUI 9 beta version for its next batch of handsets. Xiaomi confirmed the news on their official blog post under MIUI forums. The U.S. users of the Xiaomi smartphones like Mi Mix will also get the MIUI 9 soon.

These devices will get the updates

As noted by XDA-Developers, the first batch of Xiaomi smartphones that received the update included Redmi Note 4 (powered by Qualcomm), Redmi Note 4X and Mi 6.

This was immediately followed up by the second phase, where devices such as Redmi 4X, Redmi 4, Mi Mix, Mi 5, Mi Note 2, Mi 5S, Mi 5S Plus and Mi Max 2 received the beta version of MIUI 9. The third phase is now active. The list of smartphones that will receive MIUI 9 beta are: Mi Note, Mi 4, Mi 3, Mi 2/2S, Mi Pad 3, Mi Pad 2, Mi Pad 1, Redmi Pro, Redmi Note 4X MTK, Redmi Note 4, Redmi 4A, Redmi 4 Prime, Redmi 4, Redmi 3S/3X, Redmi Note 3, Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note 4G, Redmi Note, Redmi 3, Redmi 2A, Redmi 2, Redmi 1S, Redmi 1. The company is sticking to testing beta versions at first, before rolling out final updates. According to a report by FirstPost, Xiaomi wants to ensure that no problems occur in the future.

Rolling out their update via its beta program will give them enough time to implement the needed tweaks.

Users are happy with the MIUI 9

Users are receiving the update positively. According to Xiaomi, the consumers who have already experience MIUI 9 have given the software update a “recommendation rate” of 93.3 percent. MIUI 9 comes with the latest enhancements and bug-fixes.

When installing it, consumers are advised to note that their smartphone has a full charge. It is recommended the handsets are kept on charge when the procedure is being carried out. Make sure that the device is connected to Wi-Fi instead of mobile data. If the smartphone switches off mid-way, then there are chances that users might lose all the data existing in it.

Meanwhile, the company is currently focused on preparing for the launch of Mi Note 3 and Mi Mix 2. The event is scheduled to take place in Beijing on September 11. These two are high-end category smartphones and will equip the best of the features currently available in the market. Some of its highlights will be its display, camera, and processor.
