Motorola’s X-series of smartphones has long maintained the reputation of being among the best Android options to choose from. The company is finally back with its latest addition to the series, titled, “Moto X4.” The device falls into the mid-range category but comes tagged with specs that are high-end. According to Tech Radar, The phone will be available in the US by the end of the September.

An ultimate camera with wide angle lens

According to the hands-on review by Engadget, Moto X4 is the first Android device (other than LG) to include a dual rear camera setup with a Wide Angle Lens.

The camera module on the rear end packs an 8-megapixel wide angle lens (with a 120-degree field of view from its f/2.2 lens and 1.12nm pixels) along with a 12-megapixel sensor (with dual-pixel autofocus, a f/2.0 lens, and 1.4nm pixels). The selfie camera is just as good too, as it features a 16-megapixel shooter with LED flash with a special adaptive low-light mode.

Price of the phone

Another highlight of the device is that it extends support for Amazon’s Alexa digital assistant, a report by The Verge claims. Moto X4’s Alexa will be able to respond to commands even when the device is locked. Google Assistant will still be supported on the device, nonetheless.

The first batch of Moto X4 will first be hitting the European market in September, at a starting price of $360.

This will be followed by an official US launch during fall at approximately $700. In the design department, the handset is no different than most of the other Motorola offerings. For example, Moto X4 features a glass design, complimented by metal edges. The front panel is further protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 4. The smartphone also boasts IP68 certification, which makes it dust and water resistant.

One major drawback of Moto X4 is that it does extend support for Moto Mods. The company’s modular accessory platform, it appears is only compatible with Z series of smartphones. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 octa-core processor, a report by GSMArena confirms. The company was expected to debut Snapdragon 835, but since Moto X4 falls into the mid-range category, it is understandable.

The handset goes on to boast a 5.2-inch display with 1080 pixels resolution. Furthermore, there’s a decent 3,000mAh battery onboard with support for a 15-watt Turbo Power charger. The firm has introduced two color variants, namely “Super Black,” and “Sterling Blue” with Moto X4. They will later be adding a new “Silver” color option for its mid-range as well.
