Xiaomi joined hands with Google, with the objective to work on the first ever Android One smartphone provided by them. The device is titled, “Mi A1,” and is expected to arrive with decent specs and an extremely affordable price tag. The company has now officially launched its first video ad, which showcases the handset in its full glory.

According to a report by Gizmo China, the handset is showed-off in bits and pieces in the thirty-second-long ad posted by Xiaomi on YouTube and their official website yesterday. Special emphasis can be observed on the device’s dual Rear Camera feature.

The company is smart enough to clarify that while the technology that comes equipped in Mi A1 is “created by Xiaomi,” Google is the one “powering it.” The company, it appears plans on targeting Developing Markets with the launch of Mi A1.

Availability in the US and the world

The smartphone has already been unleashed in India, with other key developing markets to follow soon. Xiaomi announced at the event yesterday in India, that they plan on introducing the handset to 40 markets.

These markets include Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Mexico among others. The phone might also release in the US later. For those who don’t know, the specifications and design of Mi A1 are essentially based on Xiaomi’s Mi 5X.

The Mi 5X – which falls in the mid-range category – was introduced into the market in May.

Let’s talk about the specifications

As noted by Android Headlines, the smartphone features a 5.5-inch full HD display with 1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution. The handset is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 64-bit chipset and offers 4GB of RAM along with 64GB of inbuilt memory.

The users don’t have the option of expanding the memory via its microSD card. In the design department, the handset appears to pack a metal-built.

The fingerprint scanning feature is located on the rear panel, right next to the camera module. The device is expected to run on Android Nougat out-of-the-box. The company has said that they are in talks with Google to bring the latest Android 8.0 Oreo to Mi A1 as soon as possible.
