Apple officially unveiled its 10-year anniversary handset, iPhone X, at the company’s new Steve Jobs Theater. The mobile device will come along with an OLED edge to edge display and a facial recognition technology. Aside from the flagship smartphone, the Cupertino based tech titan also announced the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus.

According to Forbes, the company will kick off the pre-orders for the iPhone X on October 27, and shipping will start on November 3. The 64GB storage variant of the device will have a $999 price tag.

The iPhone X features a 5.8-inch display with 2436 x 1125 pixel resolution, which is iPhone’s highest pixel density to date.

Apple’s SVP of Worldwide Marketing, Phil Schiller, stated that the smartphone has the most durable front and back glass to date.

A11 Bionic processor

According to Apple, the iPhone X is powered by the company’s A11 Bionic processor with Neural Engine and a custom Apple graphics processing unit. The chipset of the device features four high-efficiency cores as well as two high-performance cores. The battery of the handset lasts two hours longer compared to the iPhone 7.

The smartphone is available in two different color options - silver and space gray. The device features an IP67 certification for dust and water resistance. The iPhone X runs on the iOS 11 operating system.

Smartphone’s camera specs

On the camera front, the 10th year anniversary mobile device features a redesigned rear dual camera setup. The camera setup boasts two 12MP sensors with a dual optical image stabilization, no shutter lag and a better low light performance. One sensor features a wide-angle lens with f/1.8 aperture, while the other features a telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus smartphones will also arrive with a glass front and back. The iPhone 8 features a 4.7-inch screen, while the 8 Plus will have a 5.5-inch display. Schiller stated that both smartphones feature a Retina display that provides a wide cinema quality color as well as a better color accuracy.

The smaller handset will arrive with a single rear camera and the Plus model will come along with a horizontal dual camera setup.

Both mobile devices will include wireless charging capabilities and will be available in different color options - new gold finish, space gray and silver.

The iPhone 8 will have a $699 price tag, while the Plus variant will cost $799. The smartphones will be available for pre-order on September 15 and will start shipping on September 22.
