Samsung is expected to launch its new wearable, the Gear Fit 2 Pro, sooner rather than later. The smartwatch is expected to come along with swimming tracker, a built-in GPS, and an offline Spotify streaming support.

According to GSM Arena, the popular tech leaker, Evan Blass, shared a screenshot of a retailer in the United States selling Samsung’s smart wearable for $199.99. The retailer also listed the original model for $179.99. However, Blass did not reveal the name of the U.S. retailer, so it’s hard to verify if the listing is legit. Wherein, several websites mistakenly put in placeholder prices.

Reportedly the Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro will not arrive as an entirely new tracker generation. Tech enthusiasts can expect the wearable to be more like a product upgrade for the current models. Nonetheless, the South Korean tech titan is expected to roll out several changes and improvements to the wearable device.

It seems the additional cost of $20 of the U.S. retailer could justify Gear Fit 2 Pro’s features, such as the more comfortable wristband, swimming tracker, and the improved water resistance. Samsung’s new smart wearable is expected to arrive with an offline Spotify music playback support.

The Gear Fit 2 Pro will be powered by the tech company’s own Tizen operating system, which has been igniting the tech titan’s smart watches for quite some time.

The new wearable is expected to be compatible with Android OS powered mobile devices as well Apple’s iOS devices.

While the current Gear Fit 2 cannot be immersed in the water, despite having IP68 certification, the tech company will add the 5 ATM water resistance technology to the new model. The new wearable can also synchronize with the Speedo mobile app.

The moniker Gear Fit2 Pro alongside the model number SM-R365 emerged on the tech company’s own support page. The model number already acquired an approval from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) back in June.

Design of the wearable

In terms of design, the images shared by Blass showcased that the upcoming smartwatch will resemble to its predecessor.

But, according to Phone Radar, the new device will sport a display with fewer bezels. Samsung’s latest smartwatch is expected to arrive with a curved rectangular AMOLED display.

Release date of the device

The tech company is expected to announce the new wearable at the company’s Unpacked event in New York City on August 23. Samsung is also expected to unveil the much-awaited Galaxy Note 8 phablet.
