Oppo is among those few brands who haven’t yet explored the high-end smartphone category as of yet. It goes without saying that they have more than excelled in the field of mid-range and selfie-oriented smartphone category, the flagship group is something that remains untouched by OPPO. The company’s latest introductions were OPPO R11 and R11 Plus smartphones that they debuted back in June this year.

Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 SoC

The smartphones, like always, fell in the budget category of smartphones and came powered with the Qualcomm Snapdragon system-on-chip (SoC).

Now, as per the latest Report, a new unnamed OPPO device has been spotted on the benchmarking website, Geekbench as carrying the flagship bearer, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 SoC. The smartphone is further revealed to be equipped with 6GB of RAM and the latest Android 7.1.2 Nougat operating system. This has led many to believe that OPPO might finally be foraying into the high-end category of smartphones, and a competition with other big brands such as Samsung and Apple through the means of its alleged unnamed OPPO device.

Specs and features

As mentioned previously, the smartphone has been spotted on Geekbench. As per the listing posted on the website, it appears like the device will be powered by the most powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip.

Unfortunately, no other information regarding the device has been revealed through the website. It’s been a really long time since OPPO introduced an impactful flagship smartphone. Chances are, the smartphone that has been spotted on Geekbench might be the one making up for the lost time. The rest of the specifications of the upcoming OPPO smartphone are expected to be identical to the company’s R11 device that was unveiled earlier this year.

In other words, the former might come packed with metal-built, along with a front-facing fingerprint scanner, which is perhaps one of the primary highlights of the device.

Apart from this, the smartphone might pack up a 5.5-inch full HD or QHD display – depending on what the company decides to opt for. On the storage front, the smartphone might pack up 6GB of RAM along with either 64GB or 128GB of internal storage.

Users will obviously be provided with the option of expanding the memory if they’d like. The smartphone might support the company’s exclusive VOOC Flash Charge fast charging – however, this hasn’t been confirmed as of yet. The smartphone is also expected to run the latest Android 7.1 Nougat operating system update.
