Search giant Google took everyone by a pleasant surprise when the firm announced its decision to foray into the smartphone market with its Pixel and Pixel Xl smartphones. These devices fell in the high-end category, thereby directly taking on other smartphones in the Similar range including Apple's iPhone 8 and Samsung's Note 7 smartphones. While Google's 2016 innovation was certainly impressive, it remains to be seen whether the company ends up pulling off a similar deed this year as well.
Release date is not confirmed
The company at the beginning of 2017 confirmed that they were indeed working on Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 smartphones.
In fact, rumors started surfacing online that indicated that Google might end up introducing not two, but three variants of Google Pixel smartphones. However, since the information has not been confirmed by the firm as yet, it remains to be seen whether this actually turns out to be true. Coming to the specifications of the upcoming and smartphones, it doesn't appear like the firm is going to initiate great changes in terms of design at least.
Specs and features
If reports are believed to be true then the upcoming smartphones will probably pack a similar design as was seen in its predecessor. However, the only difference will be that the smartphone will feature slimmer bezels. Apart from this, there are high chances that the smartphone might come packed with a larger display as well.
According to a report published by Android Police, the smartphone might be built using metal. The upcoming flagship smartphones are expected to pack a 6-inch display — a clear upgrade from last year's 5.5-inch Pixel smartphone. According to a report published by XDA Developers, the upcoming Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 smartphone will certainly equip better camera systems.
There are numerous rumors that indicated that the aforementioned smartphones might come with a dual rear camera set-up.
Apart from this, the upcoming Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 smartphones are expected to be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 processor as well. If this turns out to be true, then the smartphone will fall in direct competition with other leading devices in the market including OnePlus 5, Samsung Galaxy S8, S8 Plus and Note 8 smartphones and Nokia 9 smartphone. On the storage front, the device might pack 4GB of RAM along with 128GB of internal storage. Aside of this, the upcoming smartphone might come at a starting price of $700.
