When the "Last of Us 2" trailer hit, audiences were thrilled just to see Ellie playing the guitar and visited by what could have been the memory of a dead Joel. For those who've played the first game or seen walkthroughs of the end, you know that Joel died at the end in order to save Ellie from the advancing horde. His appearance in the trailer could easily be a clue that he's dead and she just can't let go.

However, a girl can't just grieve forever. In a world full of infected people, some of which mutated into "clickers," there is a running theme of survival which can't be ignored.

One does not simply survive what is basically the zombie apocalypse with just a guitar and a sad tune, meaning Ellie is going to need some weapons.

Ashley Johnson tweeted some images in an update

Those images included some hints about what Ellie could be dealing with, as well as some new weapons and a ride which might not be too effective against the infected horde. Being an animal, and essentially meat, a horse would not be immune to the effects of the infected taking a quick snack. Ellie herself is supposed to be immune to the virus, but that doesn't necessarily extend to her mode of transportation.

Ellie herself is supposed to be immune to the virus, but that doesn't necessarily extend to her mode of transportation, indicating that the horse will be attacked while she's on it, hence the motion-capture image of her riding it and using toy machetes. Ellie may be fending off the hordes to attempt to save the horse.

Could there be more weapons?

While the first game gave us shivs and shotgun ammunition, that might not be enough anymore. As Danny Trejo has shown us in his B-movie action features, a machete can go a long way in a nasty situation.

Another image released shows another woman whose character we don't yet know toting a machete as well.

It could indicate that she will teach Ellie how to use the bladed weapons for more effective mid-range combat early in the game. She might even be playable at some point, say if Ellie is forced to split off to open the way forward.

Another image, shown above, indicates that Joel could still play a role if post-mortem.

If the game is adding machetes, there might be other weapons on the way as well. Of course, crafting weapons like that could prove to be difficult and we could be introduced to a "Dead Island"-style damage system where you have to repair it on occasion.

What else do you think Naughty Dog is going to add to "The Last Of Us 2"?
