Motorola has rolled out Android Nougat update for Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus in the United States. The company has pushed the update as part of soak testing process for customers who make use of Republic Wireless carrier. Tagged with build number NPJ25.93-13, the update features Android 7.0 Nougat alongside Android security patch for the month of December 2016. The US-based carrier has stated a disclaimer on its official website that the update will be introduced in a phased manner and hence it will take some time for it to hit your handsets.
Steps to install the update
To install the update, you should touch the Apps icon and navigate to Settings icon. From the Settings page, you need to press About phone option and then hit System updates. You need to click on the option named Update Motorola Software. You will view a pop-up notification message if the update is available. It will prompt you to download the file.
After the completion of the download, you need to press Install now option. The whole process will take few minutes to finish, and your phone will restart automatically. The main point to note is that you need to charge Moto G4 and G4 Plus to the full capacity before proceeding to download the update.
Android Nougat features
Talking about the features, the Android 7.0 Nougat provides an ability to quickly switch between apps including multi-window view and the new work mode. It also includes data saver module, improved Doze mode, and Just-in-time compiler. The update enables you to reply to messages directly from the notifications.
Moreover, multiple notifications are bundled together and displayed as a single notification group. The Android Nougat update enables you to rearrange the quick setting tiles including the ability to display wallpapers on the home and lock screen. The update also brings in several redesigned emojis with multiple skin tones.
Moto G4 features a 5.5-inch FHD display, Snapdragon 617 processor, Adreno 405 graphics, 2GB RAM, 16/32GB expandable storage, a 13MP rear camera coupled with 5MP front-facing snapper. A 3000mAh battery with fast charging battery completes the package. Meanwhile, the Plus model offers 64GB storage with an enhanced 16MP selfie camera.
