The Nebraska football team might still be working on their 2019 class, but Scott Frost and company are clearly working hard towards the 2020 class with offers to players like Ja'Khi Douglas. The Louisiana wide receiver is just the latest elite player at the position to get an offer from the Huskers in the last couple of weeks. It's clear the team is going after the best of the best at the wide receiver position and it will certainly be interesting to see how things work out as we move further into the 2020 class.
The Nebraska football team is already making headway in getting their foot in the door for 4-star wide receivers in the 2020 class.
Troy Omeire is just one of the receivers the Cornhuskers have gone after recently and it certainly paid off in that regard as the player just announced they were in his Top 10 teams.
Ja'Khi Douglas in elite company
Going after the best receivers in every class is paying off when it comes to looking beyond 2020. Josh Downs, who is a member of the 2022 class has also named the Huskers among his favorites. The good news is that Scott Frost and company are making some headway. The flipside is that it's clear the Nebraska football team is going to have to wait a bit in order to find out whether they have won the recruiting battle for players like Ja'Khi Douglas and the other top prospects they have gone after, whether they are wide receivers or not.
Nebraska football will have tough hill to climb
Ja'Khi Douglas would be a heck of a get, but he's also going to be rather hard to nab. Hailing from Terrebonne, Louisiana, Douglas is small but he's got great speed to offset the fact that he doesn't have a great amount of size. While the Huskers have largely gone after big-bodied receivers, JD Spielman has shown that smaller receivers can work out as well.
In fact, it's possible they can work out even better than big bodies like Stanley Morgan Jr if they are used right.
The Nebraska football team is going to have to fight hard in order to bring in Ja'Khi Douglas. He's already got 22 offers and it should surprise no one that the vast majority of those offers are from SEC schools that are going to be hard to beat.
247Sports has ranked Douglas as the 35th best receiver in the entire class. He's also the seventh best player in the state of Louisiana.

Florida is hot on the receiver's trail and Alabama has offered as well. Louisiana is one state the Nebraska football team hasn't had a ton of success recruiting in the last few years, though they have landed a player from that area every now and then. Scott Frost and company are hoping Ja'Khi Douglas can be another they manage to reel in.
