Big Ten power rankings for Week 11

Video Rate this title

There were some rather interesting games in week 10 of the Big Ten that might have solidified the power rankings.

Who the is the best team in the Big Ten is crystallized on Saturday? The big question is how good is the rest of the conference?

1

MIchigan Wolverines

Remember when people thought the Wolverines were in trouble when they lost to Notre Dame to open the season? They've reeled off eight straight wins since that loss, including a 42-7 win over #14 Penn State. They're the best in the conference right now bar none.

2

Ohio State Buckeyes

The Buckeyes aren't quite as unbeatable as they looked three weeks ago, but this is still a very good team that still has a very good chance to go to the Big Ten title game. They'll need to knock off Michigan to do it, but that's not necessarily an impossible task.

3

Northwestern Wildcats

Yep. Northwestern is the third best team in the Big Ten right now. That's despite being 0-3 outside the conference. Their only B1G loss is to Michigan and it appears they're headed to the Big Ten Title game.

4

MIchigan State Spartans

This is officially where things get a little Hazy. The Spartans get this spot because they are playing better in the last two weeks than any other contender for this spot.

5

Wisconsin Badgers

The Badgers are struggling a bit on offense. I'd love for the Huskers to play them right now. They didn't look unbeatable against Rutgers yesterday, that's for sure.

6

Purdue Boilermakers

What a weird season for Purdue. They pull off a big upset, then look flat. Then they pull off a big upset. They knocked off Iowa yesterday and kept alive slim hopes for a bid for the B1G title game.

7

Iowa Hawkeyes

With the loss to Purdue yesterday, the Hawkeyes likely saw any chance of a B1G title game go away. They're two full games behind Northwestern, though they will have a chance to carve into that lead if they can beat the Wildcats next week.

8

Penn State Nittany Lions

Who would have thought the Nittany Lions would be this low in any Big Ten rankings this year. They got murdered by Michigan 42-7 on Saturday and have been playing some bad football down the stretch.

9

Maryland Terapins

Maryland was put into a bad situation by their own administration when they announced DJ Durkin was coming back and then fired the head coach one day later. With that in mind, only allowing 24 points to Michigan State was pretty impressive.

10

Nebraska Cornhuskers

The Huskers would have likely been a couple of spots higher if they could have toppled Ohio State. Still, they're clearly the best of this group and have a legit chance to win their last three games. Going 5-1 after starting 0-6 would have to be considered a big win.

11

Illinois Fighting Illini

The Illini will prove they deserve to be higher if they can beat Nebraska next week. Their blowout win over Minnesota should certainly give Husker fans pause, but the Gophers have been bad in the second half of the season.

12

Indiana Hoosiers

The Hoosiers are losing far too often but at least they aren't being blown out every week. They had a bye this weekend and will get back after it against Maryland next weekend.

13

Minnesota Golden Gophers

The Gophers started the season 3-0. They're best chance at winning six went away when they got crushed by Illinois this weekend. Minnesota is going to be rowing the boat to another losing season in 2018.

14

Rutgers Scarlet Knights

Rutgers rolls on towards a winless Big Ten schedule. Their last three games are Michigan, Michigan State and Penn State. Only losing to Wisconsin by two touchdowns might be the highlight of their season.
