What to know and watch for prior to the game
If Emmanuel Mudiay can suit up for the first time this season, it will be interesting to see if he can reclaim some of the backup point guard minutes from Ron Baker.
While Baker played just one minute on Monday after receiving an accidental elbow to the face from teammate Noah Vonleh, he averaged over 19 in the first three games. He had more than twice as many fouls (11) than points (5) in those three games.
The Heat have outrebounded teams by an average of 8.3 in their first three outings.
Meanwhile, the Knicks have been outrebounded by an average of 7.7 in their four games.
Miami has struggled mightily from deep other than Rodney McGruder. While McGruder is 9-18 from three-point territory, the rest of the team is a combined 23-84 (27.4 percent).
History in the regular season between the Knicks and Heat
New York and Miami have met 119 times in the regular season, and the Knicks hold a 64-55 edge in the win column according to Land of Basketball.
Since the Heat won eight in a row in the season series from 2014-15, the Knicks have won five of the last nine meetings. The two teams split their four outings against each other last season with each team defending their home court both times.
The Knicks had won three straight at American Airlines Arena prior to Miami winning both games played there in the 2017-18 season.
