The English transfer window opened in June allowing clubs to bolster their squads early for the 2018/19 season. While others are waiting till after the World Cup, so as not as to distract players from national duty, most premier league clubs are active on the transfer market. Blasting News brings you a list of transfers that have already been completed.
Yet to announce a new signing
Seven premier league clubs are yet to announce new signings. Newly promoted Fulham, alongside Bournemouth, Burnley, Chelsea, Everton, Southampton, and Tottenham have not announced any new players.
It remains to be seen whether they will trust their old guards going into the new season.
Crystal Palace, Manchester City, and Newcastle are the other clubs that haven’t been so busy in the transfer market. The three clubs have each made only one signing so far. Crystal Palace has signed Vicente Guaita while Manchester City and Newcastle United have signed Philippe Sandler and Martin Dubravka respectively.
Arsenal new manager Unai Emery snapped Stephan Lichtsteiner on a free from Juventus. The 34-year-old Swiss defender is a replacement for Per Mertesacker who has since retired. The club also announced the signing of Bernd Leno from Bayer Leverkusen. However, Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla left the Emirates after failing to agree on new contracts.
Avoiding relegation
Huddersfield Town, after surviving relegation last season, has been the busiest in the transfer market with six new signings. Florent Hadergjonaj, Jonas Lossl, Terence Kongolo, Ramadan Sobhi, Ben Hamer and Juninho Bacuna have all joined the Terriers. Brighton and Hove Albion, also keen to maintain their premier league status, have brought in four new signings.
Florin Andone, Leon Balogun, Joseph Tomlinson and Jason Steele have joined the club.
Newly promoted Cardiff City has so far announced two new signings- Josh Murphy and Greg Cunningham. The other promoted club, Wolverhampton Wanderers, has signed Benik Afobe, Willy Boly, Raul Jimenez and Rui Patricio. The clubs hope the new signings will help them avoid relegation back to the Championship.
