The Dallas Cowboys now have a crowded room of receivers with the recent additions of Allen Hurns and Deonte Thompson. There are currently seven receivers on the depth chart which is too many to have on a 53-man roster, so the question is, who will be the odd man out?

Allen Hurns was signed to be the number two receiver behind Dez Bryant [VIDEO] because Terrance Williams hasn’t shown the willingness to be a threat at the position. You would think he would be the obvious choice as the odd man out, but there is another receiver on the roster who may go before him.

Cole Beasley could possibly be released when you factor in his age, production this past season, and his cap hit for this upcoming season. Beasley struggled this past season only catching 36 passes for 314 yards, which was his lowest yard total since the 2013 season.

The Cowboys drafted Ryan Switzer in the 2017 NFL Draft who has the same skill set as Beasley. Switzer is a much younger and cheaper player than Beasley so he could be his replacement if the Cowboys choose to release him.

Cowboys salary issues

Cole Beasley is entering the final year of his contract and he still has trade value to him as well. If the Cowboys were to cut Beasley today they would save $3.5 million which could be used to sign another position of need in free agency.

You also can factor in his $4.25 million cap hit for this season as another reason to move on from him.

Terrence Williams on the other hand, would cost more to cut because of his guarantees on his contract he signed with Dallas last offseason. He most certainly doesn't have any trade value this season after breaking his foot while working out a few weeks ago.

He is having surgery and will miss some time in OTA's and minicamps but hopeful to be available for training camp.

In other words, the Cowboys will not benefit from releasing Terrance Williams this season. The best option as of now, would be to trade or release Beasley, which would make him the odd man out.

Could the Cowboys add a receiver in the draft?

Every NFL Team is now in the process of scheduling pre-draft visits to future players who they feel could possibly be picked in the 2018 NFL Draft. After the additions of free agent signings of Allen Hurns and Deonte Thompson at receiver, the Cowboys are now in a position to make a move in the draft to add a young receiver who could replace maybe Dez Bryant or even Cole Beasley.

Both players had a drop in production this past season and count a good amount of money against the cap, Bryant with $16 million and Beasley with $4.25 million. David Helman of Dallascowboys.com tweeted the Cowboys recently brought in Texas A&M receiver Christian Kirk as a draft visit, Kirk could easily fill the slot position in Dallas admirably if Beasley were to be traded or released.

Another player Dallas could add in the Draft could be Alabama receiver Calvin Ridley [VIDEO] with the 19th pick. Dez would most certainly be gone if the Cowboys were to select Ridley with their first-round pick. His high salary and cap hit would cost the team too much to keep him. Ridley would be the new number one receiver with Allen Hurns being the number two opposite of him.

The next few weeks leading up to the NFL Draft will be very interesting, I am pretty sure Jerry Jones has a few tricks up his sleeve to make a splash to set the entire draft in a different direction.
