Manchester United traveled 30 miles to John Smith’s Stadium in Huddersfield Town. Huddersfield started off the game with some lethal attacks and scored the first goal of the game in the 28th minute.

United’s main defender, Phil Jones, picked up an injury and replaced by the summer signing, Victor Lindelof. Huddersfield maintained a good attacking pace and scored their second goal in the 33rd minute.

The second goal came after a silly error by the Sweden international, Lindelof. The defender tried to head the air ball toward the goalkeeper, De Gea but failed to flick the ball, consequently the Huddersfield striker, Depoitre, cleverly shot the ball back of the net after dodging De Gea.

Manchester United players like Juan Mata, Martial, Herrera, and Lindelof played some sloppy passes in the first-half and went down trailing the newly promoted side in the first-half by 2-0.

In the second-half, United boss, Jose Mourinho made two remaining substitutions by sending Mkhitaryan and Rashford in for Juan Mata and Anthony Martial.

It was clearly a tactical substitution as Jose didn’t want to lose his first game of the campaign against a newly promoted side.

The Red Devils played more attacking play in hunt of their first goal. Huddersfield defenders subdued United’s attack very well and gave counterattacks every time United gave away the ball in their half.

Man Utd striker finally unlocked Huddersfield’s defense on the 78th minute when Rashford headed the cross from Lukaku to the back of the net. The goal gave United some hopes of a comeback in the remaining 10 minutes, but opponent’s defenders kept the Red Devils at bay and won the game by 2-1.

Bad team-play by United

United looked puzzled on every part of the field. They couldn’t connect many passes and gave away the ball many times while attacking as well as defending.

Poor defensive play by Victor Lindelof cost his team three points and the manager won’t be happy at all with that error by the defender.

Midfield again struggled alike the last match, to deliver the ball to the Belgian striker, Lukaku. Herrera and Mata’s poor passing made team suffer from the lack of accurate attacking passes.

Fans have been missing the injured French midfielder, Paul Pogba. He’s likely to return by the end of the next month.

What Man United learned?

United dropped their first three-points this campaign and it won’t go down unnoticed as they underperformed in their last game also again Liverpool. They played like underdogs against Liverpool and dropped two points with a goalless draw.

League leader, Manchester City, are now on the top of the table with 25 points and five points clear off the trailing team Man United.

United are against defending champions, Chelsea, in next round and a consecutive lose will make fans and board directors to question about Jose’s managerial abilities. To keep their title hopes alive, they have to beat Chelsea in the next round or the team will face a heavy criticism.
