With the 2017 NFL regular season underway, the Philadelphia Eagles took on the Washington Redskins. Sophomore quarterback Carson Wentz tossed for over 300 yards and two touchdowns in a 13-point win by the Eagles. In addition, LeGarrette Blount made his debut for the team while receiver Zach Ertz and Nelson Agholor had games of 86 yards or more receiving. The Philadelphia Eagles just might have a future star quarterback on their hands in the form of Carson Wentz.
The second-year player was able to throw 26-of-39 completed passes for 307 yards and two touchdowns. Wentz was sacked twice and threw a pick as well, but came up with the big win. His top targets included Zach Ertz and Nelson Agholor. Ertz finished with 93 yards on eight catches while Agholor had six catches for 86 yards and a touchdown. LeGarrette Blount also debuted for his new team and had 14 carries for 46 yards.

Philadelphia held a 16-14 lead at the half but went off for another 14 points in the next half.
They were able to hold the Redskins to just three points for that half. Eagles' defensive player Fletcher Cox picked up a fumble forced by Brandon Graham in the latter part of the game and returned it for a 20-yard touchdown score.
The Washington Redskins received 240 yards passing from Kirk Cousins with a touchdown. However, he was also intercepted, and sacked four times for a total loss of 40 yards.
The Redskins' only touchdown of the game came on a Cousins pass to receiver Chris Thompson, who finished with 52 yards on four catches. Terrelle Pryor Sr. was targeted 11 times and caught six passes for 66 yards.
The Eagles had just over 34 minutes with the ball in Sunday's game, which was nine minutes more than the Redskins.
Washington also had four turnovers and three less first downs than the visiting team. For the game, Philadelphia finished with 356 yards of total offense, most of which were generated by Wentz. The Redskins managed 264 total yards for the game.
Standings & what's next
With today's win, the Philadelphia Eagles have improved to 1-0 overall and 1-0 on the road. They'll try to make it a perfect 2-0 start next Sunday as they visit the Kansas City Chiefs. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. Eastern Time.
The Washington Redskins start off their season with an 0-1 record and an 0-1 home mark. The team tries to bounce back next week as they'll take on the Rams in Los Angeles starting at 4:25 p.m. Eastern Time next Sunday.
