On Sunday afternoon, the 2017 WNBA Playoffs resume with the second round of action. The first matchup of the day will feature the No. 4 seed Connecticut Sun playing host to the No. 5 seed Phoenix Mercury. It will be a return trip for one of the University of Connecticut's biggest stars in the history of the program, Diana Taurasi. Also, WNBA All-Stars Jonquel Jones, Alyssa Thomas, and Jasmine Thomas will try to lead their team to the next round but will be up against Taurasi, Brittney Griner, and a tough Mercury team. Here are the latest Mercury vs.

Sun preview including odds, game time, channel, and live streaming options.

Playoffs game preview

The Phoenix Mercury come into this second round matchup after winning their first WNBA Playoffs game. In that game, they took down Sue Bird and the Seattle Storm 79-69. Now the three-time WNBA Champions bring the experience of Diana Taurasi to the second round against a Connecticut team that wasn't expected to be here. The team lost Chiney Ogwumike ahead of the season but still managed to surprise most critics en route to one of the top four records in the league.

Due to that record, the Connecticut Sun had a first-round bye in this year's postseason. During the past season, they were 2-1 against The Phoenix Mercury including a rout at home and a one-point win on a night when Diana Taurasi went on a scoring-fest.

Now they'll look to advance after several unsuccessful seasons in which they failed to qualify for the playoffs by defeating Taurasi and company.

As of this report, the Odds Shark website reported that the Connecticut Sun were 4.5 point favorites. The moneyline had the Sun as -200 favorites while the visiting Mercury were +170 underdogs.

The over/under points total was 164.5 or 165 points depending on the sports book. These two teams are 5-5 against each other over their last 10 meetings with Phoenix winning their most recent meeting at home 86-66. In the previous game, Connecticut captured a 94-66 victory.
