Last night, the Green Bay Packers easily defeated the Chicago Bears 35-14, even after an almost hour-long weather delay held up the game. However, the team suffered yet more injuries to key players. Meanwhile, the Baltimore Ravens and Los Angeles Rams will be without key defensive starters this weekend.
Packers hit hard by injuries on Thursday night
Last night the Green Bay Packers lost their top two running backs, Ty Montgomery and Jammal Williams, to injuries in the first half.
Montgomery injured his ribs on the first play of the game and tried to play through the injury. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport says that a source told him the running back has broken ribs.
Meanwhile, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter that Williams' MRI came back negative and he only has a muscular injury in his knee. His status for Week 5 will be up in the air.
The worst injury last night was to receiver Davante Adams, who had to be carted off the field after taking a horrific blow to the head. Adams was taken to the hospital last night to be evaluated but is now back home resting. Head coach Mike McCarthy said that he is now in the concussion protocol.
Ravens down two defensive lineman
The Baltimore Ravens already knew that they would be entering week four's key matchup against the rival Pittsburgh Steelers without defensive end Brent Urban. Now, they have also learned that starting defensive tackle Brandon Williams will not be able to play, making it that much harder to stop a potent Steelers offense.
Urban suffered a season-ending foot injury in last week's embarrassing loss to the Jaguars. Meanwhile, Williams did not play last week with his foot injury and did not practice at all this week.
Coach John Harbaugh did say that Williams was “progressing well.” He also said of him playing in the future, “I'll have my fingers crossed in the upcoming week or two.”
Rams to be without starting safety
The Los Angeles Rams are off to a surprising start and are set face their toughest test of the season against the Dallas Cowboys.
However, they will be without starting free safety Lamarcus Joyner, who can't play due to a nagging hamstring injury.
To make matters worse, Joyner's backup Cody Davis is questionable to play with a sore quad. On the offensive side of the ball the team's starting center, John Sullivan is also questionable with a hip injury. Davis did not practice today, while Sullivan was limited in practice each of the last two days.
