Before they signed with the WWE, Sami Zayn and kevin owens were tag team partners. The two worked together in different promotions, with their best work together coming in Ring Of Honor. When they first appeared in WWE NXT, the WWE acknowledged that they were close but then Owens turned on Sami and the two have been enemies ever since.
At a house show in Montreal on Saturday night, Sami Zayn was in the ring getting beat down by WWE world champion Jinder Majal and the Singh brothers. Kevin Owens then ran into the ring and cleared house. He and Zayn then worked together to toss the bad guys from the ring and the fans went nuts as the two Canadian wrestlers stood together as allies for the first time in the WWE.

Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens history
To understand how big this was for the Canadian fans, head back to the wrestlers time in Ring of Honor. Owens, a native of Montreal, and Zayn, a native of Quebec, were tag team partners in Ring of Honor with two very different names. Kevin Owens was "Mr. Wrestling" Kevin Steen and Sami Zayn was a masked Luchador wrestler known as El Generico, The Generic Luchador.
El Generico and Kevin Steen held the Ring of Honor world tag team titles back in 2008, winning them from current WWE agent Jimmy Jacobs and a wrestler named Tyler Black. For those who don't know, Black now also wrestles in the WWE under the name Seth Rollins.
The two wrestlers held the belts for seven months.
After losing the titles, the two men ended up breaking up when Kevin Steen turned heel and injured El Generico. The two men won the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Feud of the Year in 2010 and soon El Generico left Ring of Honor. He ended up signing with the WWE and joined NXT as Sami Zayn.
Meanwhile, Kevin Steen won the world title in Ring of Honor and worked on his singles career before making the jump to WWE NXT, changing his name to Kevin Owens, where he also won the NXT title - from Sami Zayn.
Fight Forever
When Sami Zayn won the NXT Championship from Neville, the first man in the ring to congratulate him was Kevin Owens.
However, the celebration turned dark when Owens destroyed Zayn after congratulating him for the win. Owens then beat Zayn for the title and became the new champion.
Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens feuded on NXT and then feuded again when they made their way to WWE Monday Night Raw. The two men always have great matches against each other and fans like to chant "fight forever." However, as the short reunion in Canada proves, there is always excitement to see the two men back together again.
