Many celebrities are expected to come out this Saturday when Conor McGregor faces Floyd Mayweather Jr. in an unusual boxing match in Las Vegas. However, Ronda Rousey will not be one of them for a good reason.

According to UFC President Dana White in an interview with CBS Sports, the former UFC Women’s Bantamweight champion is set to tie the knot on the same day of the fight. He adds that “Rowdy” is in a pretty good place right now though she has yet to announce her retirement.

Unlikely done on purpose

For some, it may be more of a coincidence for Rousey to set her wedding day alongside one of the rarest cross-matches in sports.

Everything has been quiet on the former UFC champion’s end, opting for a low profile since losing to Amanda Nunes at UFC 207. It was the second loss in a row for “Rowdy” after that shocking loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193.

Before White gave the update on Rousey, the UFC president hinted that the UFC might have seen the last of her. He already singled out the likelihood of Ronda settling down with boyfriend Travis Browne and also focusing on her acting career.

There has been brewing talk that Rousey could end up joining the WWE. Nothing has been made official though wrestling personalities like Triple H and Stephanie McMahon have left the door open for Ronda. With her wedding coming up, all that may take some more time.

Rousey keeping track

With Rousey’s focus on her wedding day, she is still likely to find out who won between Mayweather and McGregor. Unlike most stars, the former UFC champ has not been vocal on the match.

Most have called it a farce with Mayweather as the heavy favorite. A lot of that is because this will be a boxing match, a sport, McGregor used to take up but never fought in professionally.

McGregor is entering the bout heavier than Mayweather, something that could work for or against him. Either way, “Money” remains the favorite though a lucky punch could alter the course. Similar to winning the bout, many see that as a long shot.

However, that hasn’t stopped bookies and some boxers from worrying about a potential upset.

With big odds, a potential McGregor upset is possible and such could result in huge payouts to bettors.

According to the Mirror, Amir Khan believes that a Mayweather loss would be disastrous to boxing. The boxer's concern is understandable considering most know the time it takes to be good at the sport. McGregor has trained as a boxer in the mixed martial arts scene. The case and scenario is however different in an actual boxing ring.
