There are three Nfl Preseason Games on the slate for Friday night, with two of those games featured on the NFL Network. Kicking things off will be a matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants from MetLife Stadium. These are two teams looking to build upon last year's success as they each reached the postseason behind their veteran quarterbacks and other talented roster players. Here are the latest game details including matchup odds, start time, TV channels, live streaming, and more.
Matchup preview
Heading into this game, the Pittsburgh Steelers are coming off of another decent campaign under Ben Roethlisberger.
The team is still looking to rely on "Big Ben" this season but realizes his career is winding down. Still, they'll see if they can continue to contend for the Super Bowl as one of the AFC's top teams. Pittsburgh got good news in that their receiver Martavis Bryant was reinstated after missing all of last season for multiple drug violations. However, ESPN reported that Bryant won't be on the field for tonight's preseason opener.
The team also went through training camp without their top running back Le'Veon Bell who turned down an offer by the Steelers which would have made him the highest-paid running back in the league. So it's unlikely he'll be on the field, or even on the sidelines, for much of the preseason.
Fans are hoping he will be there when the regular season gets going.
The New York Giants managed to get into the 2016 NFL playoffs as an NFC Wild Card team. However, they ran into Aaron Rodgers and the Packers who ultimately defeated them 38-13. Still, the Giants are a team that may be contending for the division as they were able to take down the Dallas Cowboys twice last season.
The team is hoping to have receiver Sterling Shepard back on the field in time for Week 1 as he's been recovering from injury. They also are probably going to consider Eli Manning's career trajectory as it is moving toward the tail end.
In tonight's game, Manning isn't expected to participate, although he'll likely be on the sidelines helping to coach the two backups: Josh Johnson and Geno Smith.
The team will also be trying out other players for roster spots including receivers, kickers, left tackles, defensive tackles, and tight ends.
Right now, the New York Giants are listed as four-point favorites on the point spread, but it's always tough to gauge who will play and who won't in these games. On the moneyline, New York is a -190 favorite while the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers are +160 underdogs. Tonight's over/under points total is hovering around 35 points for the complete preseason game.
