On Wednesday's WNBA schedule, the New York Liberty bring their five-game Winning Streak into Indiana. The Fever have been struggling lately, and are now officially out of the running for a playoff spot. However, New York can try to move towards gaining a top four spot in the overall standings. At 17-12 overall, the New York Liberty are currently second in the Eastern Division and fourth in the overall WNBA standings.
The Washington Mystics are right there with them at 17-12, making games down the stretch crucial for these teams. Each of them has just five games left on the schedule. New York has been surging, winning five-straight including their recent 70-61 home win against the Minnesota Lynx. Other victories have come against top three teams with wins over both Connecticut and Los Angeles Sparks. That has to have New York feeling good as they move towards the postseason.
On the other side, the Indiana Fever have been struggling as they've lost four-straight games including an 87-82 home defeat at the hands of Washington. In addition, the team got bad news as they lost guard Briann January for the rest of the season this past Monday.
To make up for the loss, the team signed rookie guard Jennie Simms for the remainder of the season. However, this Fever team seems to have little left to play for beyond pride as their season winds down.
As of this report, there were no moneyline prices for either team. Odds Shark listed the point spread at 8.5 points in favor of the visiting New York Liberty.
The over/under points total was at 157 for the complete game. These two teams have gone 5-5 against one another over their past 10 meetings.
