Inter Milan is ready to fight Tottenham, Juventus, and Chelsea for Valencia defender Joao Cancelo. In England, Middlesbrough is leading Saint Etienne and Everton in the race for Ingolstadt defender Marcel Tisserand, while Ross Barkley has suffered another injury setback – damaging his hamstring in training – casting fresh doubt over his expected move to Tottenham. Here's a full report of these soccer updates.

Inter Milan keen on Joao Cancelo move this summer

According to Sempre Inter, Inter Milan has now joined Tottenham, Juventus, and Chelsea in the bid to sign Joao Cancelo. Inter Milan is aware of the high-level teams interested in the defender but is hoping to have an advantage over the competition by using Geoffrey Kondogbia as part of any deal. Kondogbia is said to be of interest to Valencia, and he could be used as a “makeweight.” Inter is in the transfer market for a new right back and has “identified” Valencia defender Joao Cancelo as its preferred target. Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are trying to snap up Cancelo, while Italian champion Juventus wants him to replace Dani Alves, who joined Paris Saint-Germain earlier this summer.

Middlesbrough in talks with Marcel Tisserand

According to HITC, Marcel Tisserand is in advanced talks with Middlesbrough as Saint Etienne has “bulked” at his asking price. Ingolstadt is demanding $8.1 million to sell Marcel Tisserand and such a fee is out of the French club's budget and that has apparently put Middlesbrough in the “driving seat” to lure the defender to England. Boro is said to be holding close talks with Tisserand in the hope a deal can be reached in the coming days. The DR Congo international joined Ingolstadt last summer from AS Monaco for a fee around $6.4 million, but he's willing to leave the club following Ingolstadt relegation to the Bundesliga II. Marcel Tisserand, 24, is also a target for Arsenal and Everton.

Ross Barkley's move to Spurs is in doubt

According to Metro, Ross Barkley's expected move to Tottenham Hotspur is in serious doubt after the midfielder suffered another injury setback damaging his hamstring in training. The news will come as a “massive blow” to Ross Barkley, who is expected to join Tottenham after Everton manager Ronald Koeman said he was “100 percent leaving” the club this summer. Everton Football Club wants $64 million for the Englishman, an amount which Tottenham Hotspur has so far “refused” to meet. But with just two weeks to the close of this summer transfer window, Everton has apparently failed to find common ground on a fee for the England international. Ross Barkley, 23, recently recovered from a groin operation which prevented him from traveling with the rest of Everton squad to Holland and Tanzania.
