The WWE is setting up their big SmackDown Live exclusive show for the month of July and matches for Battleground are starting to come together. On SmackDown Live this week, there were a number of angles that really set up what looks to be a very interesting show. Here is what we know so far about WWE Battleground.

WWE world title: Randy Orton vs. Jinder Mahal

The first match announced for Wwe Battleground was the Punjabi Prison match between WWE world champion Jinder Mahal and former title holder Randy Orton. Mahal won the title from Orton two months ago and then won the rematch last month.

Both matches saw the Bollywood Boyz get involved so this match is inside the Punjabi Prison structure, a wooden version of the steel cage. Here is a look at the Punjabi structure.

WWE US title: AJ Styles vs. Kevin Owens

Very few fans saw AJ Styles beat Kevin Owens for the United States Championship when he won at a non-televised house show last week at Madison Square Garden. The reported reason that AJ Styles won the title there was due to the fact that the WWE wants fans to think that anything can happen at house shows. Everyone will get to see the rematch at Battleground.

Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Baron Corbin

Another match that was set up on SmackDown Live this week was Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Baron Corbin.

The two had a brawl on the show and it was announced that Corbin, the 2017 Money in the Bank winner will face former NXT Champion Shinsuke Nakamura at Battleground.

WWE tag titles: The New Day vs. The Usos

The New Day were the longest reigning tag team champions in WWE history on Monday Night Raw and they will get a chance to win the titles on SmackDown Live from the Usos.

So far, the two teams have made fun of each other and had silly rap battles. Now, they will have a chance to fight at Battleground as New Day tries to finally win the titles.

Rusev vs. John Cena

Two weeks ago, John Cena returned on the Fourth of July episode of SmackDown Live but was interrupted by Rusev, who was also making his big in-ring return.

Rusev was angry that Cena’s return was publicized so much but his return was ignored. The promo then went to the evil heel dynamic and now Cena will fight Rusev in a flag match, where the winner is the one who pulls his flag down and waives it.

WWE Women’s No. 1 contender’s match

The SmackDown Live women’s champion is not scheduled to fight at this time. However, there will be a five-person match to determine who the new No. 1 contender will be. This is an elimination match and will feature Charlotte Flair, Lana, Becky Lynch, Tamina Snuka, and Natalya. Since the winner at WWE Battleground will likely fight for the title at SummerSlam, expect Charlotte Flair to win.
