The New York Jets had a terrible 2016 NFL season, their quarterback throwing more interceptions than anyone in the NFL and the team finishing with just five wins. Things look to get worse in the 2017 Nfl Season. The Jets got rid of almost every player on their team that had any talent and it looks like they are throwing the entire season for a hope at a high draft pick next year as they rebuild. With the NFL training camps starting this week, here is a look at the 2017 New York Jets preview.

Jets offensive breakdown

Last year, Ryan Fitzpatrick was the starting quarterback and after playing well in 2015 he regressed and threw a ton of interceptions.

The New York Jets let Fitzpatrick go and also decided to cut ties with Geno Smith as well. This season, there is no telling how the Jets will look at quarterback. Journeyman Josh McCown will come in as the starter and will also be tasked with mentoring Christian Hackenberg and Bryce Petty along the way.

At running back, there is one star in Matt Forte but it looks like he will share time with Bilal Powell. Forte ran for 813 yards and seven touchdowns last season but after he was injured, Powell ripped off 411 rushing yards in the last four weeks of the season. Forte is seeing his career winding down at the age of 31 and Powell is 29 so there is no telling what the New York Jets have planned for their future.

The New York Jets wide receiver position is a mess. They used to have great starters in Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker but both receivers are gone now. This means the new wide receivers are Quincy Enunwa (857 yards in 2016) and newcomer Quinton Patton (880 yards in the last four years combined). Robby Anderson will get a chance to play and rookie Jordan Leggett will get the start at tight end.

Jets defensive breakdown

The New York Jets lost a lot of games last year but much of their struggles were offensive mistakes. That might be why defensive coordinator Kacy Rodgers was able to keep his job. Of course, head coach Todd Bowles actually runs the defense (although he needs to win this year with a skeleton team or he might lose his job).

Sheldon Richardson and Muhammad Wilkerson were supposed to be their defensive line stars but injuries and bad attitudes hampered their production.

Morris Claiborne came to the New York Jets from the Dallas Cowboys and will try to finally achieve the success that was expected from him as a former first round draft pick. The linebacker corps looks to be a positive position with second-year starter Darron Lee looking to be a star.

Jets 2017 NFL prediction

The New York Jets are expected to have the worst record in the NFL this year. Only the San Francisco 49ers are expected to be as bad as the Jets when it comes to the probabilities of making it to the Super Bowl. The team will be lucky to win five games this season and should end up with the first overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
