Miami Heat rumors about LeBron James returning to the team are always a hot topic and that is exactly what a new report by the Miami Herald has become. A big piece of news from this weekend has been James posting pictures of Miami on his Instagram account, causing quite a stir among fans who would love to see him come to South Beach again.
LeBron James played four seasons with the Miami Heat, teaming up with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh to bring the franchise four appearances in the NBA Finals. The team won two championships while he was there, dominating the Eastern Conference at every turn, but James eventually decided that it was time to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
It was then that he finally helped the Cavs get that first title. Wade and Bosh are now also gone from the roster.
Would LeBron James return to the Miami Heat?
There has been no verbal indication that James wants to play for the Heat again. While he certainly enjoys the city and the memories that he made there with Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, and the fans of the team, it really doesn’t appear like he would leave the Cleveland Cavaliers to head south again. He is a free agent after the 2017-18 NBA season, though, which is why these NBA rumors have surfaced again. This means it’s not an impossible scenario, even though it might be an improbable one.
The struggle that the team is having and the reason there are so many Miami Heat rumors is that the franchise is struggling to land a big name player to add to the roster.
Miami tried to land Jimmy Butler, Paul George, and Gordon Hayward during this past NBA offseason, but all of those pursuits came up short. The reasons are differing, from not having the right pieces to offer in a trade to not having the right culture to land a player like Hayward in free agency.
Will Miami make it back to the NBA Playoffs?
With Hassan Whiteside, Goran Dragic, and Dion Waiters on the roster, the Miami Heat should be good enough for a return to the 2018 NBA Playoffs. The team came up just short this past season, losing out on a tie-breaker that put the Chicago Bulls in the No. 8 seed. While the team failed at adding a significant star to the roster, there is a good cast that could put a lot of games in the win column during the 2017-18 NBA season.
There are definitely a lot of potential free agents that Miami could go after during the next offseason, including LeBron James, Paul George, Dwyane Wade, Enes Kanter, and Carmelo Anthony. Kawhi Leonard, Klay Thompson, Jimmy Butler, Kevin Love, and John Wall are available the following year. Until then, there will likely be a lot of additional Miami Heat rumors about adding more talent, but it’s still unlikely that LeBron James is coming back.
